Alvin Gentry and the Phoenix Suns have a mutual agreement to separate ways after his 5-plus seasons of being a head coach. The new coach will be revealed in 1 to 2 days.
Gentry became the interim head coach of Phoenix last February of 2009,
and became the 14th head coach in the history of franchise on May 2009. In all the 5 seasons, Gentry’s
teams made a 158-144 (.523) record, 1 playoff appearance and a participation in the Western Conference Finals in 2010. Today, the Suns have a 13-28 (.317) record at the middle of the
2012-2013 season.
Just recently, Gentry said that Phoenix, with the season apparently headed south, may turn to the team's younger players and eye at the future.
Phoenix Suns lacked a go-to scorer and had a struggle with depth as he continuously tried making new lineups.
